The Frogs class had decided to wear green for the Grinch play today! Even though we were not able to attend the play, everyone still had on green and was in the festive spirit! What a great group of students and those smiling faces!
What better way to get the kids into the spirit of the holiday, then with some Christmas art! Frog students were excited to use their own footprint to make the festive Mistletoe artwork! Students had a great time and what a special holiday keepsake to remember!
MNCS Elementary is delighted and grateful for our two new sewing machines! We want to thank Tina Kloepping and her family for their thoughtful and generous gift this holiday season! Your support makes all the difference and the sewing machines will be used by our students to make wonderful and creative projects in Mrs. K's class! Thank you so much, we appreciate you all!
MNCS Elementary students enjoyed visiting the Science Museum today! Offering a variety of learning experiences and exhibits, students were able to explore everything from dinosaurs and fossils, cultures, earth and the universe, nature and ecosystems, sportsology, experiments- such as creating a tornado, and so much more! It was a fun day of excitement and hands on learning!
A few students went with Carrie to the woods today to create some forest art with wood and branches.
Students in the Frogs class celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday with a delicious "turkey leg" feast! They all sat together at the table and learned about thankfulness, respectful communication and actions, and expressing their feelings among fellow MNCS friends. Joined by their Advisor Mrs. Woyt and School Counselor Mrs. Lauren Chapman who lead the discussion and passed out the delicious "turkey leg" rice crispy treats! With the season of gratitude upon us, what a fun activity and we are thankful for each and every student and member of our wonderful MNCS community!

MNCS Elementary Town Hall!
MNCS Elementary hosts a town hall meeting every early release Wednesday for students to come together and discuss things and do some fun games! Yesterday, students enjoyed participating in a game called "stuff the turkey"! Students threw stress balls into a paper bag turkey and the team that got all their balls in first won! What a fun Wednesday and we hope all MNCS families had a wonderful early release afternoon!
Last Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving we all played Turkey Bingo at the High School. If you got a bingo you had to gobble and wobble your way up to pick a prize! There were many prizes to choose from and we also had a full Thanksgiving meal for our coverall bingo winner!

During this week there have been multiple thanksgiving feasts that the students have worked together on to cook and put together. It has been a wonderful short week of delicious food, teamwork, and of course, thanks. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to all the MNCS families!
What a Thanksgiving feast!
Students in Mr. Cory Anda's class had a wonderful time making a dish to share with the class today for a Thanksgiving feast. Thank you to the family members who came to help make the delicious food and to our High School volunteers as well. Also to those who generously donated money and food to make this all happen- we appreciate you all!
There were gingerbread cookies, cheesy potatoes, blueberry muffins, a delicious gluten free cake, a Norwegian bread- lefse, pizza, naan, garlic bread, pumpkin pie, reindeer candy, egg rolls, street corn, hamburgers, and even sushi! What an awesome day to learn and spend time with fellow MNCS friends- Happy Thanksgiving!
Students in Mrs. K's class are building a sculpture that represents an artist or scientist they are researching. They are learning about the three stages of sculpture: armature, flesh out, and embellish. Armature is to a sculpture as bones are to the body. Students are doing the body with an armature of wire and a dish soap bottle. Flesh out is to give the sculpture substance. Embellishments are specific details added to the sculpture by the artist. Students will flesh out and embellish the body of their sculpture. Students are being so creative and the sculptures are looking awesome!
Students in the Woodland Critters class participated in a Thanksgiving themed activity- The Mayflower Challenge! Students were instructed to build a boat with paper plates and foil to hold as many "pilgrims" as possible. Students used problem solving skills and each designed a unique boat with hopes that it would float while holding some wooden marbles without sinking. Students put their finished boats in a tub of water to test their designs!
The students absolutely loved this activity and made some impressive ships! Students learned a lot of how to proportion weight for balance and problem solving skills, getting creative and making adjustments if needed if their boat did not perform as expected the first time.
What a fun activity for students right before the Thanksgiving holiday!
A Winter Wonderland! Students had fun getting outside and playing in the snow this week for the first snowfall of the year! Students even built some snowmen on the playground and enjoyed time outside with friends!
Last Friday students got to go to a horse barn in New Prague to learn everything about horses, how to ride them, how to be around them, and what type of work goes into owning horses. They all had an amazing time!
