Last day of Student Orientation-Students were given a unique item to collaborate on “why they think their item would make a great project”.
Then they presented their project idea “elevator pitch style” to the rest of the students (my favorite, the armadillo figurine).

Let's give a "SHOUT OUT" to Danielle Gustafson-Sundell! Danielle is a Special Ed Advisor.
I am originally from Red Wing, MN and also lived in Chicago and Evanston, IL. I attended school there, first at the Art Institute of Chicago and then Northwestern University. After receiving an MFA, I taught various art classes at the college level. My family and I moved back to MN about 9 years ago. My husband is a librarian and works at Mankato State University's Memorial Library. My daughter began attending MNCS in 3rd grade and is now starting 8th grade.
I started working as a Para at the high school about 2 yrs ago and this has evolved into my new position as a Special Ed Advisor. I absolutely love working at MNCS. I feel lucky to have landed here. The students are amazing-I learn so much from them and also feel challenged to keep growing. And I work with an amazing group of educators. I'm very interested in Project Based learning-it's such a cool way to learn!
On a more personal note, I am a constant reader (mostly fiction, also essays and cookbooks) love to cook (current obsession-fermenting veggies) and bum around thrift stores (vintage records, funky objects, vintage clothes..and more:) and also, self admittedly, have a clothing problem (as in-overstuffed closet, boxes and storage bins.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in one place every day of the week this new school year. Can't wait.
Let's give a BIG WELCOME to Marcia Ranft
Marcia will be joining the team as a Elementary Teacher: Her class will be known as the Woodland Critters.
About Marcia: This will be my 9th year teaching and I am very excited to join the MNCS team. When I visited MNCS, I knew this was the school for me. I enjoy learning and teaching through inquiry and exploration. I am the mother of two (ages 14 & 18), I love to spend time with family and friends.
My hobbies include camping, hiking, anything with water, and traveling. I look forward to getting to know my colleagues, my students, and our families.
Introducing Halle Pauly!
Halle is thrilled to join MNCS Team as an Elementary and Secondary Special Education Advisor. She is building a new home with her family. She loves reading, baking cookies, being outside with her family and friends, and her childhood dog "Remmie".
Lets give a big "welcome" to Halle
