HONEYWELL INSTANT ALERT — sent out on Thursday, March 26th at 1:30 pm Coronavirus Update —- School Remains Closed — Brace yourselves everyone. This is going to be a super long message.

As you probably are already aware, yesterday afternoon Governor Walz issued an executive order directing Minnesotans to stay home starting this Friday, March 27th through Friday, April 10th.

In addition to this stay-at-home order, the Minnesota Department of Education Commissioner Mary Cathryn Ricker has ordered that all Minnesota public school districts and charter schools begin providing Distance Learning instruction to students starting Monday, March 30th and continue until at least May 4th. Minnesota New Country School will begin providing Distance Learning instruction for our students starting Monday, March 30th, as directed. Parents should be receiving or have received  information from your child’s teacher(s) by the end of the day tomorrow, Friday, March 27th on how to connect next Monday, as well as your child’s learning goals.

MNCS will be following our 2019-20 Calendar as planned.  If changes are made to the calendar, we will notify you. Please refer to www dot new country school dot com as the source of information going forward.

At both the Elementary and High School Buildings, we still have a lot of students’ personal belongings.  We understand the challenge of traveling right now, but we need you to come and pick these items up as soon as possible.  Please contact your Advisor or Classroom Teacher to set up a time to do this. Only MNCS students will be allowed in the buildings.  If needed, we will meet parents at the door with belongings.

Thank you to all families for your help as MNCS works to provide these Distance Learning instruction plans to our students while keeping people safely in your homes. Our hope is that our MNCS Distance Learning instruction plans focus on Connection Over Content and provide Flexibility for our families and students.

Please remain alert to any additional information that may be provided to parents and students by our school, including our Distance Learning instruction plans. In order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus to the many vulnerable individuals in our community, we would also ask that everyone give their complete cooperation to Governor Walz’s Stay Home Minnesota executive order.

Take care everyone, enjoy the beautiful sunshine, and stay safe out there. Good Bye.

HONEYWELL INSTANT ALERT ON 3-18-20 —- This is a message from MNCS and a request for assistance from Minnesota New Country School families:

PLEASE PICK UP ALL BELONGINGS: MONDAY, MARCH 23RD OR TUESDAY, MARCH 24TH , BETWEEN HOURS OF 7A – 7P ———————————————We are preparing for the possibility of an extended school closure that could go well-beyond the current closure that extends until March 27th. Students will need to have their learning materials at home, and we would like to begin thoroughly disinfecting the school building over the next several days. In order to accomplish both of these necessary steps, we are asking all elementary and high school students to retrieve all of their belongings.  The buildings will be open Monday, March 23rd and Tuesday March 24th from 7am to 7pm. Only the students will be allowed in the building.

You are encouraged to bring large containers or multiple garbage bags to hold all personal belongings and school materials.  We are asking everyone to quickly empty these spaces so that they can be thoroughly cleaned. If a student of any age has medication in the Nurse’s Office, the student should ask the staff person on duty for that medication and they will bring it to the parent or guardian outside.

If you are unable to pick up your materials during this time, please contact your advisor or teacher to make alternate arrangements. And finally, if you or your child are ill, or suspect that you may be ill, please do not enter the buildings at this time.  Thank you.
