MNCS Board of Directors Seeking Parent, Staff and Community Candidates

The MNCS Board of Directors is seeking candidates to fill seats on the board for a 3 year term from July 2019– June 2022. 

The following openings on the MNCS Board of Directors are due to expiring terms. 

The openings are for 1 elementary parent member, 1 secondary parent member, 1 community member, and 1 elementary staff member

Board service is a great way to learn more about MNCS and to give back to the MNCS community. Please consider serving on the MNCS Board of Directors.
If you are willing to be a candidate, please complete the MNCS Board of Directors Election Filing form 2019 and submit by Friday, May 17, 2019 at 3:30pm.
National Charter Schools Week, May 12-18 – Officially declared by the President of the United States to acknowledge the role and contribution of charter schools to public education, and to celebrate the accomplishments of charter schools and tell the charter school story. LET’S PROMOTE MNCS!!! Write a letter detailing why MNCS is important to you and submit to your local paper. Other ways to reach out, contact your local radio or TV station and see if they’ll do a piece on our school. Helpful tool – Writing a Letter
Reminder to Parents – When dropping students off at bus stops, please remember to stay with, and supervise your children until the bus arrives.


Student Announcements

Juniors who want to complete a Sr project next year will be meeting with Senior Team on Tuesday, May 21st from 12:30 to 3:00 to learn about their project requirements.

5-Legged 5K – Come run, come all, on May 22nd at 1:15 pm –  We will be having a spring 5K run/walk. Test yourself for summer fitness, or just walk with friends for fun. We will run 3.1 miles around Henderson. Please sign up with Joan so we know how many runners or walkers to plan for. $20 to the first student that breaks the 20-minute mark in the 5K, per the official timekeeper. See Nick with questions.

Math Help – The school year is flying by fast! If you need assistance meeting your math goals for the year, the Math Team will be hosting extra help sessions in the Conference Room on Mondays and Thursdays from 1:00-2:00pm.

Friday, May 17, 2019 -A Nature biologist is coming to school to provide a showing of snakes, turtles, and salamanders, Alyson D. is hosting this Friday experience. There is no cost! Sign up at Joan’s desk. 
Tuesday, May 21, 2019 – Winco Tour – Interested in the fields of engineering, manufacturing, finance, forecasting, and more? We will be traveling to Winco in Le Center to learn more about those fields and how they apply to career opportunities in this neck of the woods. Sign up at Joan’s desk.
Friday, May 24, 2019 – Minneapolis St Paul City Tour – will be exploring the great Twin Cities area and checking out some big historical sites and learning about the history of these two cities. We will also be visiting and eating at one of the most famous burger places in the Twin Cities also. Cost will cover site fees and food.

The Kitchen Cupboard Cafe 18-19 (School Lunch)

Our School Lunch is catered in each day from Patty’s Kitchen Cupboard Cafe in Le Sueur.  Lunch Tickets are for purchase at Nancy’s desk, by check & cash, and online – click on the Square icon above. Students will be given physical tickets, and will manage their own lunch tickets once purchased.  Lunches are $3.50 each, make checks out to MNCS.  Students need to put their lunch ticket with their name on it into the “Lunch Tickets” box by 8:30am at Nancy’s desk each morning to order lunch.  See the KCC’s Menu below:

Important Dates

Class of 2019 Graduation Ceremony is on Saturday, May 18th, 2019 @ 1:00pm (Seniors please be at the High School at 11:00 a.m. for pictures)

Thursday, May 30th is a full school day.

Friday, May 31st is a full school day.

Monday, June 3rd is an Early Release Day – “Dean Day” we will serve a free picnic lunch for all students (this day added in as make up day)

Tuesday, June 4th is our Valleyfair Trip Day – and last day of school. (this day added in as make up day)

Henderson Area Food Share – Is a group of community members is sponsoring a produce distribution for area community members and even outside of the community. Located at Minnesota New Country High School. Distribution will take place every “THIRD” Thursday of the month, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
The income guidelines to qualify are as followed, but we do not intend further inquiries for financial statue, and will go based upon the honor system.
