Student Announcements

Lutsen Mountain Ski Trip – There will be an informational meeting on Thursday, December 5th at 1:30 in the Library.
Speech – Jennifer will be offering Open Door practices for the month of December from the 2nd to the 18th.  They will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, running from 3:30 to 6 pm. This time will be used for choosing, cutting pieces, or running through pieces with me and your teammates.  These are not required, but are useful, (especially if you have not chosen a piece yet.)    It is important to have some time to just focus on your event.  You can come one or two days a week, or all four if you like.  However, you must arrange for your ride home to pick you up by 6 or earlier.  Formal, weekly required practice will begin after Holiday break and you can sign up for a specific evening then.
MNCS Homecoming? Looking for student ideas about a possible “MNCS Homecoming” in the spring. Please complete this survey so we can plan for a fun event! Thank You!
Grow Your Own Teacher – Are you looking for a possible future in child development? MNCS Connections Team would like to help. Interested  students would go up to MNCS Elementary on a regular bases to be Teacher’s Aid. To sign up or for more information talk to Joan Skelly.

Experience Days

Thursday, December 12, 2019:
Science Museum -BODY WORLDS Rx – Nichole and Jim will be taking a large group of students to MN Science Museum. Cost is $8, pay Joan to secure your spot, online payment is available. Bring a lunch or money to purchase one. 
Friday, December 13, 2019:
Vietnam Friday – This is a two part Friday exploring the intersection of art and the Vietnam War. This Friday we will be going to MIA to see the exhibit Artists Respond: American Art and the Vietnam War and after will be creating our own art at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts. You are required to attend both Fridays, cost is $10 (due on the 13th).

The Kitchen Cupboard Cafe 19-20 (School Lunch)

Our School Lunch is catered in each day from Patty’s Kitchen Cupboard Cafe in Le Sueur.  Lunch Tickets are for purchase at Nancy’s desk, by check & cash, and online – click on the Square icon above. Students will be given physical tickets, and will manage their own lunch tickets once purchased.  Lunches are $3.50 each, make checks out to MNCS.  Students need to put their lunch ticket with their name on it into the “Lunch Tickets” box by 8:30am at Nancy’s desk each morning to order lunch.  See the Patty’s Cafe Menu below:


Fundraiser Events

MNCS Archery Team Fundraiser UPDATE: Team YES = $359.80, Team NO = $408.72

Are you Team Christopher shaves his beard and cuts his hair?  Or are you Team NO WAY?  Which ever “Team” has the most money by December 9th, will be the winner.  Amounts will be updated every week on Wednesday.  Jars are at Reta’s desk in the Library.  This fundraiser is to help our Archery Team purchase equipment for practices and tournaments. Now available on Square.

Want to support our MNCS speech team? Shop the Mankato store any day or time from November 30th to December 5th and present our ID# 12577037. You get your shopping done (or a few books for yourself) and support us at the same time.

Frog Fundraiser – Do you have an MNCS student in your life? How about an alum? (College students might love to have this on their dorm bed!) This cute frog mascot comes with a tie-dyed MNCS logo t-shirt, and proceeds benefit Minnesota New Country School – MNCS students and staff.

Other Information

Minnesota New Country School in Henderson has been awarded $4000 to provide students with eight arts and cultural related field trips during the grant period that runs from September 2019- June 2020. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Some of the trips that are planned include: Park Square Theater in St Paul, The Minnesota Orchestra, The Guthrie Theater to see “Twelfth Night”, The Children’s Theater to see “Cinderella”, Stages Theater to see “Elf” ,The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, The Walker Art Center and Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and a South Central Minnesota Gallery Tour.

Henderson Area Food Share – Is a group of community members is sponsoring a produce distribution for area community members and even outside of the community. Located at Minnesota New Country High School. Distribution will take place every “THIRD” Thursday of the month, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
The income guidelines to qualify are as followed, but we do not intend further inquiries for financial statue, and will go based upon the honor system.
