Volunteers Needed – We are looking for Parent, Student and Staff volunteers to help with MNCS 7th Annual Chili and Salsa Cook-off on February  1, 2020. Friday, January 24, 2020:

Senior Check-in 1/24  – Attention All Seniors you are expected to check in unless communicated with Senior Team about any changes.

Grades 5th-6th $18 plus $2 for helmet ($18 for lift only)
Grades 7th-8th $26 plus $2 for helmet ($18 for lift only)
Grades 9th-12th & Adults $30 plus $4 for helmet ($20 for lift only)
American Rescue Crafters 1/24 – No Cost – Calling all knitters, crocheters, and sewers!  We will be crafting Joey pouches for animals injured in Australian fires. Must know how to follow a pattern. For more information talk to Kelly. 
Star Wars Movie 1/24 – The force is strong with the new Star Wars movie at Southbridge theater! Bring a bag lunch or $ to purchase one.
Social Studies Friday – Current Events of the best 10 years -Permission slip will need be signed for sophomores and younger (you may obtain this on Joan’s desk). There is no charge for this class. Sign-up is in the Experience Book on Joan’s desk.

Wednesday, February 12, 2020  – MN Opera The Belongings – Have you ever seen an opera live? Well, you can now for only $10!  Join Jennifer to see a new opera called The Belongings .  Presented by Project Opera, Minnesota Opera’s premiere youth training program, Belongings explores the stories of two groups of children across two time periods who are forced to flee their homes because of war. Project Opera’s performers step into the shoes of young people just like them—children and teenagers with the same aspirations and dreams who were simply born into different circumstances. Please bring a lunch, or money to buy one.  We have room for 28 students.  Online payment is available for this experience  or pay Joan to secure your spot.

The Kitchen Cupboard Cafe 19-20 (School Lunch)

Our School Lunch is catered in each day from Patty’s Kitchen Cupboard Cafe in Le Sueur.  Lunch Tickets are for purchase at Nancy’s desk, by check & cash, and online – click on the Square icon above. Students will be given physical tickets, and will manage their own lunch tickets once purchased.  Lunches are $3.50 each, make checks out to MNCS.  Students need to put their lunch ticket with their name on it into the “Lunch Tickets” box by 8:30am at Nancy’s desk each morning to order lunch.  See the Patty’s Cafe Menu below:

Fundraiser Events

Join us for MNCS 7th Annual Chili and Salsa Cook-off Fundraiser. You will be able sample several unique and traditional kinds of chili and salsa. There will be a silent auction and live entertainment.

Other Information

Minnesota New Country School in Henderson has been awarded $4000 to provide students with eight arts and cultural related field trips during the grant period that runs from September 2019- June 2020. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Some of the trips that are planned include: Park Square Theater in St Paul, The Minnesota Orchestra, The Guthrie Theater to see “Twelfth Night”, The Children’s Theater to see “Cinderella”, Stages Theater to see “Elf” ,The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, The Walker Art Center and Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and a South Central Minnesota Gallery Tour.

Henderson Area Food Share – Is a group of community members is sponsoring a produce distribution for area community members and even outside of the community. Located at Minnesota New Country High School. Distribution will take place every “THIRD” Thursday of the month, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
The income guidelines to qualify are as followed, but we do not intend further inquiries for financial statue, and will go based upon the honor system.
